Our 10 Favourite Fully Fenced Playgrounds on the Central Coast

In no particular order, here are 10 of our favourite fully fenced playgrounds on the Central Coast. Happy playing!

1. Peninsula Recreation Precinct, Umina Beach

Directly opposite Umina Beach, this huge recreation precinct is a favourite for families. Little ones have their own fully fenced and shaded playground, complete with a pirate ship, cubby house, sandpit, swings and slides.

And parents, there's a kiosk right next to the fenced playground serving great coffee, wraps and ice creams! Wahoo!

Older kids will love this spot too, with its huge net climbing structure, pump track and bouldering walls.

With toilets, BBQs, picnic tables and the beach just across the road, it's an easy place to happily while away a few hours.

Location: Corner of Sydney Avenue and The Esplanade, Umina Beach.

2. Sun Valley Park, Green Point

Sun Valley Park is HUGE, and one of the things we love most about it is that the entire park is fenced – including the basketball courts, toilets, BBQs, picnic tables and grassy areas. This makes it a fabulous spot for families with kids of different ages, and a great option for playdates and birthday parties. You can set up for a picnic while the kids run around and play – all within the fenced area.

And there's so much for the kids to do! There's a double flying fox, giant rope climbing tower, spider-web climbing nets, swings, a roundabout, balance logs and even musical instruments to play with.

Pack the bikes and scooters too! A winding path connects the different play areas, and older kids can shoot hoops on the basketball courts or challenge each other to a game of ping pong (BYO bats).

Location: Sun Valley Road, Green Point (opposite Coles).

3. Illoura Reserve Playground, Davistown

A pirate ship playground right beside the water? Yes, please! Illoura Reserve received a fabulous upgrade in 2026, with a new fully fenced playground featuring nautical-themed equipment, climbing challenges, swings and slides.

Kids can climb aboard the pirate ship, tackle rope nets, zoom down slides and have a go on the flying fox. There are swings for different ages, including a parent-and-child swing (we love these!), plus some very cute crocodile and dolphin sculptures to climb over.

And if you're visiting on a warm day, pack the swimmers! There's a shallow tidal swimming enclosure just metres away, plus toilets, BBQs and picnic tables nearby.

Just be aware that much of the playground is in full sun, so hats and sunscreen are a must.

Location: Illoura Reserve, Davistown.

We love a playground that comes with a beach visit, and Ross Park delivers! Located behind Avoca Beach Surf Life Saving Club, this fully fenced playground has a cute red boat, climbing nets, swings, and a mini café where little ones can whip up a pretend coffee for mum and dad.

There are toilets just across from the playground and plenty of nearby options for coffee, lunch or an ice cream. And when the kids have had their fill of climbing, Avoca's rockpool is just a short stroll away. It's a lovely spot to combine a playground visit with a morning at the beach.
