Love fostering reading in your home? Have a little bookworm? Or perhaps a reluctant reader who just hasn’t found their book yet? If, like us, you believe you can never have too many books, then you'll want to pop this event in your diary.
Scholastic is opening their Lisarow warehouse doors for a huge Children's Book Super Sale these spring school hoolidays, with thousands of new books at heavily reduced prices. There'll be picture books for little ones, chapter books and novels for bigger kids, activity books and more – with $2 books, 50% off RRP, a $49 Fill-a-Box offer and discounted teacher's resources.
But, lucky for us locals, it's more than just a book sale. Scholastic has turned their sale into a fun family outing with free story time, free face painting, lucky dip prizes for children aged 3+, and special appearances from some of Scholastic's favourite characters – hello Dog Man.
On Wednesday (10am-12pm), Fire & Rescue NSW will be bringing along a fire truck for kids to explore, while Thursday features a petting zoo (11am-1pm). There'll also be coffee from Kerbside Cuppa, Mr Creamy selling ice cream and a sausage sizzle supporting Ourimbah Public School, Umina Bunnies JRLFB and the Razorbacks Rugby Club.
With books from just $2, it's a great chance to let the kids browse the shelves and choose something that grabs them, stock up on fave authors and tuck a few extras away for Christmas and birthdays. And with face painting, story time, a fire truck and petting zoo thrown in, you can make a whole morning of it.
When: Wednesday 30 September, Thursday 1 October and Friday 2 October 2026, 8am–5pm. Stock will be replenished throughout each day!
