Ducklings, a sand pit, play equipment and a rope swing: the Kincumber Hotel will keep your little ones entertained for hours.

If you need to cater to a large group (I’m thinking mothers groups, ladies), then this venue fits the bill. People can order lunch, a snack, a coffee, or if it’s been a particularly taxing morning with the kids, a glass of shiraz. Once babes are out of arms they can crawl around on the grass and older siblings can let off steam in the playground. Not sure what the weather’s going to do? No matter, there’s plenty of room for multiple strollers here inside and out. This is win-win for everyone.

The play equipment features a slippery dip, noughts and crosses board, fireman’s pole, tunnel and shop window. While the covered sand pit ensures your kids will be able to build a sandcastle, load up the diggers or roll the waves in the dinghy whatever the weather. More energy? Encourage your kids to swing like a monkey on the tree rope, play Picasso on the chalk wall, whisper secrets to the fairy statues, or take a ride in the Big Red Car.

The indoor kids zone is spilling with books, building blocks, train tracks and an Ikea play kitchen and play tunnel. Sometimes it’s neat, sometimes it’s not (it really depends on who visited earlier in the day), but your kids won’t mind the mess. They’ll just be thankful that they don’t have to sit at the table while you finish your chit-chat.

If it’s a beautiful day, you can follow up lunch with a scoot down to the nearby Broadwater Park.
