Looking for a Paediatrician on the Central Coast? Meet the Intuition Paediatrics Team
Finding the right support when you’re worried about your child’s health or development can be overwhelming – particularly when you’re not quite sure which specialist they need or where to start. The good news is that care is close by.
Intuition Paediatrics on the Central Coast now has three experienced paediatricians who care for babies, children and teenagers – yep all the way from birth to 16 years of age.
And, importantly, Intuition Paediatrics is open to all families. Your child does not need to have been born through Intuition or previously been a patient of the clinic to access paediatric care.
We've put together a little list of most-asked questions, so you can find the right care for your child.
Which paediatrician does my child need?
Intuition’s paediatricians have different areas of practice, and Intuition's Patient Support Team is available to help families find the most appropriate doctor for their child.
Dr Shriniwas Chinta is an experienced neonatologist and general paediatrician who sees babies and children from birth to five years of age for medical concerns. With more than 20 years of experience in newborn and paediatric care, Dr Chinta has extensive experience caring for babies during those important early years.
Dr Umesh Mishra is a neonatal paediatrician who sees babies and children from birth to 10 years of age for both medical and behavioural health concerns. He has a particular interest in the growth and development of newborns and is accredited to conduct Bayley developmental assessments.
Dr Ahmed Khan cares for children and adolescents from birth to 16 years of age and consults for both medical and behavioural health concerns, providing families with access to paediatric support right through to the teenage years.
Together, the three doctors give Central Coast families access to paediatric care across a broad range of ages and concerns, right here on the Central Coast.
How do I make an appointment?
The first step is to speak with your child’s GP about a referral to Intuition Paediatrics.Once the referral is received by the clinic (it's best to send an email), it can be reviewed so your child is directed to the appropriate paediatrician based on their age, the reason for referral and the services each doctor provides.
The Intuition Patient Support Team can then assist with the appointment process.If you’re unsure which paediatrician your child should see, you don’t need to work that out yourself before speaking with your GP. The team can help guide you through the process.
What do I need for a behavioural health appointment?
For children being referred for behavioural health concerns, the Patient Support Team will need some additional information before an appointment can be booked. This helps give the paediatrician a more complete picture of your child before they meet them and allows valuable consultation time to be used as effectively as possible.
Along with your GP referral, you’ll need to provide two completed SNAP IV forms, one from your child’s primary caregiver and one from their school or daycare teacher, as well as a completed New Patient Form. Intuition also asks families to provide recent school reports and any relevant reports from professionals already involved in your child’s care, such as speech pathologists, child psychologists or other allied health professionals. A short summary of around 100 words outlining any family history of neurodiverse conditions can also be very helpful for the treating paediatrician.
All of the forms you’ll need are available on the Intuition website, so you can have everything completed and ready for the Patient Support Team before your appointment is arranged.
