Following sell-out seasons across the country, the Victorian State Ballet’s much-loved performance of the 19th century German fairytale Snow White is coming to Laycock Street Community Theatre this May.

Snow White is a beautiful ballet that portrays the heart-warming story of a young princess with “skin as white as snow, lips as red as roses, and hair as black as coal” and her struggle against her cruel, jealous stepmother.

This traditional tale has been reimagined countless times and, just as in the Disney hit, this show features an evil queen, a magic mirror, a handsome prince and seven cute dwarfs. It’s magical, enchanting and highly fantastical and makes for a delightful stage show.

But, while this is a narrative ballet, this is a ballet first and foremost – and that’s why you’ll go, and that’s why you’ll love it. The dancing is beautiful – spellbindingly beautiful. The cast is so incredibly majestic and poised as they pirouette, grand jeté and fouette across the stage. The points are on point. And the arms are just so. The dancing is so effortless that you momentarily forget the skill, strength and balance needed to achieve such grace – that is until you attempt to recreate the moves later at home.

Ready for a pinch-yourself moment? All attendees will have the opportunity to meet the ballet dancers at the end of the show! Squeal! After each performance, a meet & greet will occur and a pair of signed pointe shoes will be given away by the Principal Ballerina!

If you have a little dancer, this is an opportunity you won’t want to miss. Go on, treat them to a night at the ballet: they’ll think it such a special occasion and feel so very, very special themselves.
