If you've ever read Room on the Broom to your children, we bet you can still recite parts of it.
It's one of those rare picture books that seems to get better every time you read it. The rhymes are clever, the characters are wonderfully silly, and the story is full of warmth and gentle suspense. It's been one of our absolute favourite books to read to our children over the years.
So, we were very excited to learn that this much-loved story is flying onto the stage at Laycock Street Community Theatre this August.

There are some children's books that become part of your family. The kind whose lines you can recite without even thinking because you've read them so many times. The kind of book that gets passed from one child to the next and somehow never loses its magic.
For our Playing in Puddles' family, Room on the Broom is one of those books.
And I have no doubt that when I say,
"The witch had a cat and a very tall hat,
And long ginger hair which she wore in a plait."
many of you will easily reply,
"How the cat purred and how the witch grinned,
As they sat on their broomstick and flew through the wind."
There's something about the rhythm and repetition of this book that little ones – and adults – absolutely love. It's one of those rare books that's just as much fun to read for the fiftieth time as it is for the first.
And it's even more special when a story that's been part of your family's bedtime routine comes to life on stage, and CDP with Tall Stories has done just that.
Yes, the creative team behind The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo's Child is now bringing Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler's beloved story to life in a magical production filled with singing, rhyming and giggles.
You'll meet the witch and her cat, find yourself calling out, "Down!" as they fly to the ground, and join in with, "Is there room on the broom for me?" as the dog, bird and frog all climb aboard. And you'll comes face to face with a rather hungry dragon.
If your family loves Room on the Broom as much as ours does, this is one show you'll want to pop on the calendar. I have a feeling there'll be lots of voices joining in with the story, and, for many families, a request to read the book all over again as soon as they get home.
