Set sail for fun at the brand new Picnic Point Playground in The Entrance! It opened in April, and trust us, this one’s worth the road trip! With a shipload of play options, a spectacular waterfront backdrop, and space to roam, this upgraded play space is a little gem on the Central Coast.
Parents, you’ll love that the playground is fully fenced! Wahoo! And that there are toilets, seating and a coffee shop nearby.
With the sparkling lake as a backdrop, it’s a picture-perfect place to play.
The new fully-fenced playground

Pirate Tower & High Seas Imagination
The showstopper? A towering pirate-themed play structure decked out with skull and crossbones, challenging climbs, and a massive slide that will have little buccaneers racing back for more. There are rope bridges and climbing walls galore, making it a dream for mini adventurers with energy to burn.
We especially love the monkey bars, balance challenges and “Under/Over” hurdles for big-sprint energy that are seamlessly integrated into this play zone.
Toddler pirate ship

The bold black-and-red pirate ship is the centrepiece of the playground — and it delivers. It’s got all the high-seas vibes: skull-and-crossbones panels, a slide off the deck, peek-a-boo port holes, and a steering wheel up top so your mini captains can chart a course across Tuggerah Lake.
We love that it’s low enough for little adventurers to explore confidently, but packed with enough features to keep them engaged. Think: crawling spaces, game panels (hello, Connect Four and Noughts and Crosses), and lookout spots for spotting enemy ships… or snack-bearing parents.
Rope climber pyramid, flying fox and swings and a teeter-totter rocker

The rope climber pyramid is perfect for confident climbers and budding ninjas who love a challenge and want to see the world from up high.
There’s a set of swings – one regular and one toddler – and a giant nest swing for solo chills or team swings. Plus the always-favourite flying fox and a teeter-totter four-way rocker for toddlers.
Skate park

Older kids are catered to too because right alongside the play area is a skate park. It’s expansive, smooth, and great for scooters, skateboards, and BMX bikes. There are ramps, rails, and ledges for all levels of skill, making it a great spot for tweens and teens to shred while younger siblings play.
Location, Location, Location
This entire play precinct sits right by the water within Picnic Point Reserve – think water views and plenty of open space for picnics, ball games, or just lazing in the sun. There’s ample parking, amenities, and Albie’s Coffee Bar is opposite. This gives us lots of yay vibes (great location, solid brew)… and a little sad one (it’s open 6am-12pm, so it’s great for the early birds but you won’t be able to get your arvo pick me up here – cue mum tears).
🚩 One thing to note: Over the last few years a few people have taken up residence in the car park near the toilets. Many dogs reside here too, and while they are on leads, they tend to bark when people wander close to the tents and vans. Just something to be mindful of when planning your visit.
Our Verdict
A fabulous playground in a beautiful spot – great for mixed-age play, lakeside strolls, and letting the kids burn energy while you (hopefully) have some time to chill. Just aim to visit before lunch… or BYO caffeine.
