Musikbugs’ baby music classes provide bubs with an environment that’s both sensory-rich and gentle. Bubs are invited to explore new sounds, sensations and objects, and it’s gorgeous to watch their reactions as they discover the world around them.
These newborn classes are also special in that they provide new mums and dads with the beautiful support of a parent group along with some wonderful ideas and resources for families to be able to bond with their baby – both in the lesson and again at home.
Musikbugs teach Kindermusik – a research-based music and movement curriculum
Musikbugs is part of the Piano Bug Music Studio, a music and piano studio that has been operating on the Central Coast since 2013. Sharon, the studio owner and director, is a piano teacher and a Kindermusik International mentor – training and coaching new educators across the globe.
Sharon says, “Our teachers are degree-qualified with industry experience and have all received extensive training through Kindermusik International.” This means that throughout the lesson, the teachers can explain how each activity not only brings the baby joy but also encourages their communication development, eye-tracking skills, movement and coordination among other learnings.
Here are some of the things your baby (and you) will experience in a Musikbugs newborn music class:
- Listening: babies will experience a variety of songs and rhymes in different ways.
- Vocal Plays: Your turn! Babies will participate in back-and-forth vocal plays and other parent-child interactions, helping them with early language development.
- Object Exploration: From scarves to shakers, little ones will use all of their senses to explore a variety of safe, engaging props and instruments.
- Bonding Exercises: The best part…parents and caregivers learn bonding techniques through intentional touch, baby massage, and relaxation activities.
- Your baby will learn movement control, social adaptability, self-regulation and listening, communication, language and literacy skills. You can read more about these developments on the Musikbugs website.

In a newborn music class, infant massage, toe and finger games, and plenty of rocking time are just the beginning of helping parents connect with their tiny humans.
Families who enrol in a term of Musikbugs classes also receive an instrument and two books to take home.
Sharon says, “We call our baby classes ‘Cocoon’, as we give parents the resources and tools needed to nurture their little bundle of joy” and to continue to easily foster music at home.
