Designed for children aged 3 to 5 years, Mini Hoopers is a Brand NEW fun and engaging basketball program run by Central Coast Basketball.

The program teaches your little ones the fundamentals of basketball while also developing essential skills such as hand-eye coordination, gross motor skills, basic counting, social skills, and learning to take turns.

During the sessions, children will do a general warm up, play colour- and number-recognition games, learn how to pass, catch, dribble, shoot, and take part in obstacle courses. We know that when kids engage in fun, active programs such as this, it builds a foundation for future sports participation and develops a love for physical activity, so the benefits continue long beyond each term!

Registration comes with a pack of goodies too – a size 2 ball, Mini Hoopers Singlet and water bottle for your tot, plus a Keep Cup coffee mug for their carer. Love that!

We like that these sessions cater to ages 3 to 5, as it means siblings can often do it together. And that there is winning for the kids and the adults.

Central Coast Basketball also runs development programs for older kids. Scroll down to learn more about them, too.

There are multiple Basketball development programs at Central Coast Basketball’s Breakers Indoor Sports Stadium

Looking for a way to introduce your child to basketball or improve their basketball skills?

Central Coast Basketball runs multiple basketball development programs at Breakers Indoor Sports Stadium for all ages and skill levels.

5-10 year olds term class: Aussie Hoops is Basketball Australia’s official introductory program. It provides a fun and inclusive basketball experience for 5-10 year-olds. It’s been designed as a three-stage program, so that each age group participates in activities and games relevant to their physical and mental capabilities, and these increase in competitiveness until participants are ready to transition into local club competitions.

10-14 years olds term class: Rising Hoopers is Rising Hoopers focuses on teaching youth the fundamentals of basketball. If your child hopes to improve their basketball knowledge and skills – such as shooting, ball handling, footwork and teamwork – this is the program for them. These sessions are run by accredited coaches who are current and former Crusaders players, and they all have plenty of experience working with children of all ages.

School holiday camps: In the school holidays, Central Coast Basketball runs multiple basketball camps. The camps are split into age groups and skill levels and occasionally they host women-only camps, too. Check out their website for the latest camp offerings.

School sessions: Teachers, did you know that Central Coast Basketball’s development coaching team offers onsite school visits and host school programs at Breakers Stadium? Sessions run from 30 to 60 minutes and can be conducted weekly, fortnightly, monthly or as a one-off. The programs are tailored to your school – from teaching the fundamentals to mastering skill-specific moves – and are for children of all abilities aged 4 -18.
