Staying local this long weekend? Our local farmers are opening their gates and welcoming you into their paddocks in celebration of the inaugural Harvest Festival. You can shake pecans from the tree in Somersby, pick juicy navel oranges from the orchard in Kulnura, and pull organic vegies from the ground at Mangrove Mountain.

At Calga’s Australia Walkabout Wildlife Park not only can you pat a kangaraoo, walk with an emu and spy a python, but also learn about bush tucker and bush medicine. And as a special for this weekend all adults get zoo entry plus the Indigenous tour for the price of a regular kids ticket. That’s a saving of $10 per adult.

UPDATE: We’re very sad to inform everyone that Glenworth Grazing and The Food Farm have cancelled their Harvest Festival events due to the weather forecast. We recommend you check venue pages or call them directly to make sure they are going ahead with their activities prior to loading your kids in the car. ↓

Event Cancelled: Want to meet some of the locals? At The Food Farm in Wyong Creek you can say hi to the resident cows, lambs and working Clydesdales, plus get down and dirty harvesting potatoes and check out the display of vintage tractors – a winner for little boys the world over.

Event Cancelled: Girls with a penchant for pony club will love witnessing 200 horses gallop across the valley and into the yards at Glenworth Valley. Plus there will be live music, market and food stalls and an awesome kids hub with pony rides, laser skirmish, plaster painting and free drumming workshops.

Event Cancelled:And at Glenworth Valley you don’t have to leave the fun when the sun sets. Pack the marshmallows and torches and take the kids camping – for half price this June long weekend.
