Would you know what to do if your baby was choking? Could you do CPR on your child? Do you know how to best help them if they get a head injury or burn? We’ve found a wonderful local first aid course – run by paramedics and designed specifically for parents – that teaches you how to help and treat your kids, should an accident occur.

The course is called “Little Lives”, and it’s a 2-hour course that covers the first aid skills most needed by parents. Part of Central Coast First Aid Training, this course was specifically designed by co-founders Cindy and Natasha, who are paramedics and local mums themselves. They set up this course as they wanted to give parents the confidence and peace of mind to know how to act quickly and save their bubbas.

PS. if you’re thinking now that it’ll be $$, well, it’s totally not. At just $80/person this course is super affordable and accessible too.

“Little Lives” is run by Paramedic Mums: A Unique Approach

What sets Little Lives courses apart is the expertise and experience of their trainers: paramedic mums. The beautiful trainers have each worked in emergency services for more than 10 years, they both hold a Diploma in Paramedical Science and each has their own gorgeous children.

Having encountered emergencies first hand in their careers as paramedics, the trainers bring both knowledge and years of experience to the course. And, being mothers themselves, they truly understand the fears and concerns that parents feel in emergencies. This combination makes their training invaluable.

What areas are covered by the Little Lives First Aid course?

Areas covered include:

  • CPR for babies and children
  • Head injuries
  • Fevers and febrile convulsions
  • Choking
  • Allergies and anaphylaxis
  • Poisoning
  • Burns
  • Drowning

PLUS plenty of time for questions!

This is a non-accredited course suitable for parents and carers of young children.

Accidents happen! Best to be prepared

As parents, we know that accidents happen. Kids fall over ALL the time! They do backflips into pools and jump out of trees. They take risks – as they well should. And sometimes they’ll be perfectly still and yet they start choking on their chicken sandwich! In critical moments, knowing the proper first aid techniques can mean the difference – literally – between life and death, or the prevention of further harm. While we hope to never experience such situations, the reality is that accidents can occur even in the safest environments.

This hands-on, interactive course ensures that parents gain the confidence and practical skills required to address emergencies with composure and efficiency.
