Aimed at a high school audience, the hugely anticipated theatre show Amphibian is finally landing at The Art House Wyong this March after it was sadly rescheduled from its original date back in 2021.

Central Coast teens can get their dose of theatre culture at this thought-provoking performance that promises to open their minds to some of the world’s most pressing issues, as well as provide a powerful experience they’ll remember for years to come.

Amphibian tells the story of high-school kids Chloe and Hassan – an unlikely pair who have been accused of stealing money while feeding the class Axolotl. When they are sent outside to work out who’s responsible, they discover they have something in common – despite their apparent differences. Each of them has been forced by their parents to leave their respective homes and face life as the new kid at school.

As Hassan tells his incredible story of how he fled Afghanistan alone – across thousands of kilometres of land and sea in search of a better life – Chloe’s desire to protect her position in her newfound friendship group is called into question.

Through their mutual experiences of displacement, loss, and a necessity to adapt to different worlds, what follows is two people reaching between cultures to find common ground and understanding.
