The “district playspace” at Gwandalan is set to become even better with Council announcing plans to install a brand new skatepark at the location.
The current skatepark is well and truly past its use by date, and Council is inviting the local community and skate community to share what they’d like to see installed.
Fill out the online survey to tell Council what you like to ride – bowls, rails, pump tracks – and what equipment you want to use, so they can create a design that suits you. The survey closes Monday 24 June 2024. You can fill in the survey here.
You can also attend an in-person workshop on Wednesday 12 June 2024 (6:30pm – 7:30pm) at Mannering Park Community Hall. The specialist skate park consultants preparing the concept plan and design will explain the project and provide an opportunity for participants to have their say in person. You can register for the workshop here.

This epic playground at Tunkuwallin Oval was completed in September 2021.
Designed by Austek Play, kids of all age groups will be kept entertained with features including a playground, bouldering wall, mini bike/ scooter track, AND basketball court!
A playground with tots in mind
Young kids will love safely clambering the bright green and timber climbing structure, up to the pinnacle double slippery dip where they can race to the bottom with a buddy. The climbing frame features easy-to-climb steps, a fireman’s pole, and a mini shop for some role-play fun! And if they want to test their balance, they can hop across to the adjacent timber log obstacle course or jump up onto the low sandstone wall that surrounds one of the park’s mature trees – that’s if parents aren’t already perching there with a coffee!
Young children will also love the in-ground roundabout, see-saw, and the stand-alone, inclusive group swing where they can whoosh to great heights with a little help from parents!
There are plenty of opportunities to test agility too – with more balancing beams and bars to swing from on the astroturfed section of the park. There’s also a wiggly, squiggly puzzle bar where bubs learning to walk can pull themselves up and manoeuvre the brightly coloured shapes from one end to the other.
Older kids will find plenty to do here too
Got tweens who love a challenge? They’ll go nuts for this awesome bouldering wall that just begs to be climbed! There’s also a basketball court for those who love to shoot hoops as well as a skate park with awesome facilities like banks, manual pads, quarter pipes, and rails. You can read more about this skate park (plus 24 others on the Coast!) here.
There’s also a swing set with both bucket swings and standard swings – keeping kids of all ages happy.
Take a picnic and enjoy hours of fun
There’s plenty of seating dotted throughout the park, including park benches, sandstone blocks, and an undercover picnic table for when you want to grab some shade.
