When we pulled up at Palm Gully Park Playspace in North Avoca there was a gasp of excitement from the backseat. Our mini reviewer had spotted a seriously cool rope structure to climb and immediately sported the famous Spider-Man hand gesture in preparation.
We cheered when we heard council was upgrading this local playspace, which used to consist of a lonely pair of swings and some small pieces of equipment. There’s still a set of swings, but now there’s a lot more to get excited about here – including the ropes to scale, climb up and act out Spidey scenes on. We love the addition of the rock climbing walls in the rope structure too. They are perfect for little superheroes and ninja warriors in training (and burning off any extra after-school energy).
A fun orange slide, great for toddlers and pre-schoolers, is also in the new line-up. Take the stairs up to the top where you’ll find a tic tac toe game and a firefighter’s pole to slide down. Underneath the slide you’ll find a shop for tots who love to roleplay – is woodchip pies or stick spaghetti on the menu today?
Once the slide has been explored and exhausted, race on over to the spinner to see who can go around the most times before feeling dizzy!
For older kids, there’s a basketball hoop just next to the play equipment, which is awesome for solo practise or shooting hoops with a mate.
The playspace has an undercover picnic area; however, at the time of our visit, no tables or chairs had been installed. Pack a rug to sit on just in case. We headed to Daily Dough Co in Terrigal before checking out this playground and had ourselves a donut picnic under here!
Looking for a coffee close by? Get a takeaway from The Boy & The Rose, which is a two-minute drive from the playground.
