Has your little one dined with a fairy, sipped pink lemonade from a glass Champagne flute, or been treated to a high tea befitting a princess? Playing in Puddles’ littlest reviewers attended Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley‘s Glitter Sparkle Tea Party on Saturday and were lucky enough to experience just this.

When we arrived we were greeted by friendly hotel staff and shown to a table set on manicured lawns opposite the resort pool. The table was dressed for a wedding – surely not for a group of children under 10 years old? But it was. Our boys beamed with more than a little excitement as they sat at this table set with linen napkins, jugs of raspberry water and floral arrangements too pretty to be real (they were!)

The children were given pink lemonade in Champagne flutes. The glass was real! But amazingly there wasn’t a single spillage or break. Those little fingers knew they were holding something special and they held them tight and then gobbled up the strawberry garnishes.

The high tea was brought out on silver, three-tiered cake stands. It was a menu designed with kids in mind, but one that adults could enjoy too. Among the goodies were puff-pastry sausage rolls, Vegemite-and-cheese toastie soldiers, delicate rounds of sandwiches (served sans crust of course), chocolate cupcakes, boats of jelly and custard, and the most moreish rocky-road brownies.

A gorgeous winged fairy named Imogene kept the kids happily entertained so that parents could sit back and relax in the sunshine. She bejewelled little faces in sparkles and glitter – a little pink lippie here and eyeshadow there – and kept the kids happy with games of chasings and hide ‘n’ seek.

Simple lawn games were also set up for kids to play – quoits, a giant set of Connect Four and wooden eggs and spoons for races.

The Glitter Sparkle Tea Party is a school holiday treat that’s sure to make your little people feel so very special and grown up. It was a gorgeous way to celebrate the start of the Spring holidays and to while away a sunny afternoon.
