Danielle Cahill is welcoming new clients
Dani is a dedicated provisional psychologist committed to creating a safe and supportive environment for her clients, emphasizing compassion and judgment-free spaces. With experience spanning from childhood to adulthood, Dani has worked with clients experiencing anxiety, mood disorders, stress, emotion regulation difficulties, externalizing behaviours, and parenting concerns.
Dani’s background in behaviour-based therapy, coupled with experience under the NDIS umbrella, equips her to address a diverse range of needs. Dani is well-versed in providing support to clients with varying profiles, including neurotypical, neurodivergent, and individuals with other disabilities.
Kathryn Woodcock is welcoming new clients
Kathy is a psychologist (provisional) who is at the final stages of completing her Masters of Clinical Psychology degree. She is a warm, non-judgemental and compassionate practitioner who ensures the therapeutic space is as comfortable as it can be.
Kathy is particularly interested in supporting women and their families through often difficult life transitions, including both the post-natal and adolescent time. Her clinical experience is diverse, having worked with clients and families across the lifespan from childhood to adulthood with clients experiencing trauma, anxiety and mood disorders, school refusal and relationship difficulties.
Kathy’s work at the Black Dog Institute for the past 8 years has ensured she is a strong advocate for mental health.
Did you know you don’t need a referral to visit a psychologist?
Insightful Minds welcomes referrals from individuals, families, medical specialists, health professionals and educators.
But did you also know that with a referral from your treating doctor, you may be eligible to receive a Medicare rebate?
We know money is really tight for most families at the moment, so we want everyone to know that help is available.
Insightful Minds support clients privately, under a Mental Health Care Plan or with NDIS funding.
Did you know that if you have a mental health referral from your treating doctor you may be eligible to receive a Medicare rebate of $141.65 when seeing a clinical psychologist, and $96.55 when seeing a general psychologist per session? Rebates may be received for up to ten sessions of psychological care per year, and typically clients are referred for a set of six sessions from their GP, then receive a further four sessions on review.
If you require further information about mental health care plans, please speak to Insightful Minds Psychology about this option. Additionally, private health insurance rebates are available depending on your coverage and fund.
Insightful Minds Psychology specialises in adolescent support
Adolescence is a complex and transformative stage of life, marked by significant changes in emotional, physical, cognitive, and social development.
Often, given these changes, this age group has the highest prevalence of mental health disorders of any age group, with one in four young people dealing with a mental health disorder.
It’s also heartbreaking to share that suicide is the leading cause of death among Australian teenagers aged 15 -19 years.
We all want to help our teens effectively manage life stressors and transition smoothly into adulthood, and seeking professional support is an effective way to help your teen manage the ups and downs of adolescence.
Parents, are you wondering if your adolescent needs to see a psychologist?
It can be quite difficult to figure out what is troubling your young person and how to best support them. Severe anxiety, for example, may easily be overlooked as common nervousness around school life.
When it comes to adolescents, some of the common reasons a psychologist might be a good choice include:
· Excessive signs of stress
· Body image issues
· Trouble with relationships
· School and study issues
· Suicidal thinking or self-harming behaviour
· Signs of depression
· Getting stuck in worries or experiencing symptoms of panic
· Struggles with emotional regulation
· Sleep difficulties
· Disordered eating
Insightful Minds’ team consider adolescence to occur between the ages of 10 to 24 years, which accounts for both the earlier onset of puberty and the continuing neurocognitive maturation into the mid-20s.
What are the benefits of your teen seeing a psychologist?
There are numerous benefits for teenagers (and their families) who consult a psychologist. The insightful Minds’ team has put together this list outlining the many ways they can support your family.
• Emotional Support: Psychologists provide a safe and confidential space for teens to express their feelings without judgment. They help validate emotions and offer empathy, which can be particularly reassuring during times of emotional upheaval.
• Coping Skills: Psychologists teach practical strategies for managing stress, regulating emotions, and solving problems. These skills are crucial for handling the various pressures teens face, including academic demands and social interactions.
• Improved Communication: Therapy can enhance your teen’s communication skills by teaching them how to express themselves more effectively, listen actively, and resolve conflicts. These improved skills can lead to better relationships with family, peers, and others.
• Stress and Anxiety Management: Through techniques such as Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness practices, psychologists help teens manage and reduce symptoms of stress and anxiety. This support can improve overall well-being and help them handle daily challenges more effectively.
• Enhanced Self-Esteem and Resilience: By addressing self-esteem issues and building resilience, psychologists help teens develop a positive self-image and the ability to bounce back from setbacks. This increased confidence can enhance their overall quality of life.
Teens might not be the most willing of participants, and Insightful Minds’ team understand that
Insightful Minds’ team of psychologists understand that young people often have difficulty attending and engaging in therapy. They recognise the need for rapport building, confidentiality and shared decision-making to ensure the best possible outcomes.
They aim to provide clinical intervention and support to young people in a non-judgemental and developmentally appropriate manner, based on years of clinical experience with this age group.

Insightful Minds Psychology specialises in supporting mums with anxiety
Insightful Minds Psychology is really proud and passionate about supporting mums with anxiety. Why? Because they get it: three of their four practitioners are mums. Lorren, Leigh and Kathy all have two kids, and they know that parenting little people can be a tough and busy time of life and anxiety can only make everything harder.
They’re so happy that their work in private practice allows them to juggle their parenting role with their passion to support other women during this life stage.
