There’s nothing quite like having a real Christmas tree in your living room. The smell of pine needles rings in the festive season and just begs for you to pour a glass of eggnog and put on the carols.
When you buy a real Christmas tree the whole day becomes one of ceremony and excitement. Decorating the tree with baubles and tinsel is only half the fun; the first and most exciting task for little ones – and adults too – is choosing the tree, and you can start doing that now!

Christmas Tree Farms on the Central Coast
Central Coast Christmas Trees in Kulnura
You can buy your pine direct from the grower at Central Coast Christmas Trees in Kulnura. The Thomas family farm has some 40,000 trees that are pruned by hand into the classic Christmas-tree shape. You’re welcome to walk the rows of trees now, find your perfect tree and tag it for pick up closer to Christmas. Mel from Central Coast Christmas Trees says regulars start visiting them in October to tag their trees in readiness for the festive season. But you can pick up your pine far closer to Christmas, so it doesn’t curl up its toes before the 25th. Mel says a pine should last 3-4 weeks out of the ground – depending on how hot the summer is.
Price: $10 deposit to tag a tree. Trees are $10 per foot – i.e. $40-$60 per tree depending on the size. Trees range in size from 3 foot up to 8 foot. You can take the tree home yourself or have your tree delivered anywhere on the Central Coast for $50. Need a tree stand? They’re $35. Only cash is accepted on the farm.
Open: Tree tagging is open from 1 November. November Hours – Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon 12pm – 5pm. Visit their website for December hours.

And, little ones can still travel in style around the farm on their festively decorated buggy or have a play in the park!
Price: Trees start at $80 each.
