Locals to the Central Coast’s Pretty Beach will have been familiar with the former pirate ship themed playground that once resided at Turo Reserve on the park’s waterfront. But earlier this year, the playground received a pretty cool upgrade and while the pirate ship equipment has now been removed, there’s no need to abandon ship as there’s a whole new playground waiting to be explored! What’s more, it’s a little more toddler-friendly than the previous structure, meaning parents can settle their nerves as they watch their younger kids clamber up the exciting new climbing frame!

Children will climb aboard the new ‘mini-ship’ to the top of the steps where they’ll shout “ahoy there me hearties!” before racing their friends down the double slippery dip. The steps up to the slide are not quite as steep as the former playground which will be a welcome relief to parents of younger children who are still a little wobbly on their feet!

There’s a brand new hammock swing that’s a lot larger than your typical inclusive group swing so kids can climb in for a swing together or lay back by themselves and enjoy the sunshine.

There’s also a great mini-bike track that loops the park so young kids can take a scooter or their bike. It’s completely flat so perfect for practicing without training wheels!

Younger children will love a play on the swings which feature a bucket swing and backless swing, while older kids shoot some hoops on the half-size basketball court with its full height and junior height basketball rings.

There’s also tons of space to kick a ball in the adjacent sports field as well as soccer goals and tennis courts which will keep active tweens happy.

There are three undercover picnic tables (with more tables and seating throughout the park) as well as two undercover BBQs which makes this an excellent location for birthday parties and family gatherings in the sun!

Turo Reserve Playground is just a 10-minute walk from Wagstaffe ferry terminal and General Store which is a great place to stop off on your way home for ice cream or some yummy fish and chips.
